Local and regional governments are dedicated to adopting the measures and commitments agreed upon in the New Urban Agenda. With this in mind, we will gather in the framework of the World Urban Forum. The members and partners of the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments will strive to support and amplify the voice of its members and partners at the World Urban Forum (WUF) and the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments.

A delegation of over 200 local and regional government representatives from across the globe will gather in Kuala Lumpur. We are committed to protecting the Habitat III legacy and, as such, we see this Ninth Session of the World Urban Forum and the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments as a means to ensure that this legacy is preserved and expanded upon, and as an opportunity to understand the New Urban Agenda as an accelerator of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

We will be present in events ranging from roundtables and conferences to special sessions and even networking events, which will act as a hub where ideas can be discussed and knowledge will flourish.

Messages vital to members of the GTF networks, such as the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Right to the City and Cities for All, will be explored throughout the week, and members and partners of the Global Taskforce will be present in these events.

The main attraction of the WUF will be the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments, which has been acknowledged in the New Urban Agenda as the mechanism established to follow up and review the commitments agreed in it. The World Assembly will take place on 8 February from 11:00 to 14:30 and will aim to reaffirm the joint commitments agreed in the New Urban Agenda and to evaluate and monitor its implementation. Representatives from different global networks of local and regional governments will gather at this session.

The Local and Regional Government Lounge will be located at the venue KLCC Hall 4-5 Nº 127. This will serve as a workplace, as a platform and a place for presentations and networking, which will ensure our visibility and coordination during the World Urban Forum. Feel free to visit us throughout the week!
