New Urban Agenda
New Urban Agenda
The New Urban Agenda adopted at Habitat III in 2016 is the central framework for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement at local level.
The Habitat III outcome document recognizes the importance of “continuing to engage in the follow-up and review of the New Urban Agenda with sub-national and local governments associations represented at the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments World Assembly”.
Within the framework of the New Urban Agenda, the Global Taskforce is particularly committed to advancing the Right to the City agenda, a landmark reference to which was made in the text of the Habitat III outcome document. The Global Taskforce also continues to promote the roles of decentralization, subsidiarity and integrated territorial governance in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
The Global Taskforce also continues to promote the roles of decentralization, subsidiarity and integrated territorial governance in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and will continue to call for its implementation as an accelerator for the achievement of the global goals in the so-called “Implementation decade”
