Mayor of Rio de Janeiro and new Chair of the C40, Eduardo Paes,  reaffirmed the support of this organisation to a stand-alone urban goal to be adopted in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals currently in discussion at the United Nations.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group was holding its biennal meeting from 4-6 February 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Members of UCLG and C40 had already expressed the support for an Urban SDG at UN Headquarters at a special session with the UN Secretary General organised by the Global Taskforce and UN Habitat. Click here to see the related news.
